# Mixroadie vs. LANDR and online mastering

Mastering a stereo file against working on the tracks. LANDR, eMastered and BandLab compared with Mixroadie.

LANDR, eMastered and BandLab Mastering all work the same way. You upload a finished stereo mix, pick a style or a loudness, and download a master. BandLab’s mastering is free. LANDR also sells a mastering plugin that runs on your computer.

## The limit of mastering a stereo file

A master can only change the whole song at once. If the vocal is buried, the kick and bass are fighting, or the overheads are out of phase with the snare, that’s baked into the file. Mastering then makes the same problems louder.

Mixroadie starts before that point. It works on the separate tracks in your REAPER project, fixes what it can measure, balances the mix, and then masters it.

## Where online mastering is ahead

- **Any DAW, or none.** All you need is a WAV file.
- **Nothing to install** for the web versions.
- **More than mastering.** LANDR also does distribution, samples and collaboration.
- **Speed.** Upload a file and you have a master a few minutes later.

## Where Mixroadie is different

- **Nothing is uploaded.** Your audio stays on your computer with every AI option. That matters for unreleased songs and for client work.
- **It fixes the mix first,** as described above.
- **It won’t distort to get loud.** If a mix can’t reach the target cleanly, Mixroadie stops at a safe level and tells you how loud it got.
- **One pass, several formats.** Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon, club, CD (16-bit with dither) and vinyl (mono bass, rolled-off highs), all from the same master.
- **It masters files too.** You can also master a WAV from the command line without a DAW project.
- **You pay once.** $69, with no subscription and no per-track fee.

## Which one to pick

If the mix is already where you want it and you only need a louder file, online mastering is quick and cheap. If you aren’t sure the mix is right, or the song can’t leave your computer, use Mixroadie.
