# How do I install Mixroadie on a Mac?

Open the disk image, drag Mixroadie to Applications, open it and press Install. It takes about two minutes and needs no admin password.

Updated 28 October 2026

You need a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) and [REAPER](https://www.reaper.fm/download.php) 6.83 or newer. On an Intel Mac, see [Does Mixroadie work on an Intel Mac?](https://mixroadie.com/help/intel-mac/)

1. **Quit REAPER.** The installer sets up the Mixroadie panel and its keyboard shortcut in REAPER, and the shortcut can’t be added while REAPER is open.
2. **[Download Mixroadie](https://mixroadie.com/download/)** and open the `.dmg` file from your Downloads.
3. **Drag Mixroadie to Applications**, then open it from there.
4. macOS asks once whether you want to open an app downloaded from the Internet. Click **Open**. The app is signed and notarised by Apple.
5. **Press Install.** It finds REAPER and sets Mixroadie up in it.

## What the installer asks

- **Help improve Mixroadie:** an optional box for anonymous usage statistics. It starts unticked.
- **Where the AI runs:** on your Mac, in the cloud with your own API key, or through your Claude or ChatGPT app. You can also decide later. See [Which AI model should I choose?](https://mixroadie.com/help/which-ai-model/)
- **Your licence:** start the free trial with your email address, paste a licence key, or press **Later**.

## What it installs

No admin password, no developer tools and no system software. Everything lives in one folder in your home folder, and you can delete the downloaded `.dmg` afterwards.

## Next

[Open Mixroadie in REAPER](https://mixroadie.com/help/open-mixroadie-in-reaper/) with **Cmd+Ctrl+M**.

Still stuck?

Write to us with your computer (Mac or Windows and its version), your REAPER version and what you see. A screenshot helps.
