# Does Mixroadie work on an Intel Mac?

Yes, everything except the built-in AI model. Use a free local AI app such as LM Studio or Ollama, or a cloud AI, instead.

Updated 28 October 2026

Mixroadie works on an Intel Mac, with one exception: the built-in AI model needs Apple Silicon. Everything else (mixing, mastering, timing, tuning, the health check) works the same.

## Choosing an AI on an Intel Mac

Pick one of these instead of the built-in model:

- **[LM Studio](https://lmstudio.ai/) or [Ollama](https://ollama.com/)**, free apps that run an AI model on your Mac. Nothing leaves your computer.
- **A cloud AI** such as Claude or ChatGPT, with your own API key. It costs about one to two cents per song. See [Where do I get an API key?](https://mixroadie.com/help/api-key/)
- **Your Claude or ChatGPT app**, on the plan you already pay for. See [Can I use my Claude or ChatGPT subscription?](https://mixroadie.com/help/claude-chatgpt-subscription/)

Until you pick one, the panel says that no AI is chosen yet. More in [Which AI model should I choose?](https://mixroadie.com/help/which-ai-model/)

## Installing it

The Mixroadie app on the download page needs Apple Silicon, and says so when you open it on an Intel Mac. Intel Macs install with a separate install script that sets up everything except the built-in model. Write to us and we’ll help you install it.

Still stuck?

Write to us with your computer (Mac or Windows and its version), your REAPER version and what you see. A screenshot helps.
