Mixroadie's first version: what it can and can't do

What Mixroadie is, what the first version can do, and what it can't do yet.

Updated

Mixroadie mixes and masters the songs you record yourself. It works inside REAPER. It measures every track and the full mix, writes a list of fixes with a reason for each, and applies only the ones you tick. It runs on your computer, and your audio never leaves it.

The first version is out for macOS and Windows. It started as a closed beta; since 21 October 2026 anyone can download it.

How it works

Open a project and press Mix my track for me, or type what you want in the panel: “the vocal needs more air”, “make the drums punchier”, “mix everything except the drums”. You get back a plan: one line per move, with the track, the setting, and the before and after numbers. Untick what you disagree with and press Apply.

Mixroadie backs up the project before every apply, checks afterwards that each change landed, and uses your DAW’s own EQ, compressor and limiter. You don’t need to buy any plugins.

What’s in the first version

  • A full mix pass. High-pass filters, EQ cuts, de-essing, compression, levels, panning and stereo width, in one ordered list. Moves that come down to taste, like a reverb bus or parallel drum compression, show up unticked.
  • Levels and panning from real mixes. Where each instrument sits was measured in 456 songs that come with both the raw recordings and the finished mix. If a track is already inside the range engineers used, it stays where you put it.
  • Plain-language requests. Name a sound, a style (punk, lo-fi, modern pop, “big”) or a part of the song, then follow up with “a bit less than that”.
  • More than 25 single actions from the “/” menu, including phase checks, click repair, drum timing and note-by-note vocal tuning.
  • Diagnostics. Clipping baked into a file, DC offset, noise floor, tracks that were once MP3s, mismatched sample rates, and where in the frequency range two tracks cancel each other out.
  • Mastering. Name a loudness target or pick a reference track. Mixroadie won’t clip to reach a target. If it can’t get that loud cleanly, it tells you how loud it got and why.
  • Delivery. Masters for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon, club, CD and vinyl in one pass.
  • Your choice of AI. The default is a built-in model that runs offline on Apple Silicon Macs and Windows PCs. You can also use LM Studio, Ollama, or your own key for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and others. The cloud options get numbers, track names and what you typed. They never get audio.

What it doesn’t do yet

  • No other DAWs yet. Logic Pro, Cubase and Pro Tools are next on our list, without a date.
  • No hip-hop genre profile. We have too few hip-hop songs with stems to measure one. The hip-hop style words still work.
  • Vocal tuning corrects whole notes. It isn’t an autotune effect, and it won’t touch chords.
  • It never changes your project without asking. That’s on purpose, and there is no unattended mode.

The full list is on the requirements page.
