Use the AI plan you already pay for.

Mixroadie works from Claude Desktop, Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex and other AI apps that run local MCP servers, on the plan you already have. Ask about your song in your AI app. It makes the decisions, Mixroadie measures and plans on your computer, and the moves you pick go into REAPER. No AI to set up in Mixroadie, and no panel to open.

The Mixroadie panel itself can’t sign in with a Claude or ChatGPT subscription. For a cloud AI there, it uses your own API key.

Who does what.

Your AI app does the thinking. Mixroadie does the measuring and the work in REAPER.

  • Your AI app

Claude, Codex or another, on your plan

Holds the conversation and makes the judgment calls: which instrument each track is, how much to cut, how hard to compress. No AI to choose in Mixroadie, and no API key.

  • Mixroadie

    On your computer

Measures the song, suggests a rule-based answer to each question, and turns your AI app’s decisions into a plan of numbered moves.

  • REAPER

    With your song open

Gets the moves you choose, after a backup. The Mixroadie panel doesn’t need to be open.

Works with.

Any AI app that can run a local MCP server. Web chats like claude.ai, chatgpt.com or Gemini on the web can’t, and neither can the ChatGPT app’s normal chat.

  • Claude Desktop, Claude Code

    Your Claude plan

    Tested. Set up for you.

  • Codex in the ChatGPT app, CLI or editor

    Your ChatGPT plan

    Tested. Set up for you.

  • Gemini CLI

Your Google account or Gemini plan

Should work. Set up by hand.

  • GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Cursor

    Your Copilot or Cursor plan

Should work. Set up by hand.

  • Any other app that runs local MCP servers

    That app’s plan

Should work. Set up by hand.

What you can ask.

The same checks and plans as the panel, in your own words. Name the song by its file path.

  • “Run a health check on /Users/you/Music/Song/Song.rpp”
  • “What would you change to mix this song?”
  • “Is the master loud enough for streaming?”
  • “Measure the WAV files in /Users/you/Music/Bounces”
Health check
Every track’s loudness, peaks, dynamics and tone, which instrument is which, and recording faults. Free on any song.
“Mix this for me”
One plan with every move the measurements justify, in the order an engineer would work.
Mastering
A chain for the master bus, or a mastered file checked for loudness, true peak, clipping and mono.
Mix checks
Your mix against what released records measure like, or against your reference track.
Single tools
Cleanup, EQ, masking, de-essing, compression, vocal rides, panning, width, drum and reverb buses, saturation, drum phase, fades, silences, clicks, timing and tuning.
Loose audio files
Stems, a bounce or a reference, measured or compared with a genre, with no project open at all.

What your AI app sees.

What Mixroadie hands it: measurements, track names, the song’s file path and the plans. Never audio. Your AI app sends that to Anthropic or OpenAI as part of your chat, under their terms, like anything else you write there.

Mixroadie itself sends nothing anywhere when you use it this way.

Good to know.

  • Nothing is applied until you say which moves you want. Mixroadie backs up the project first.
  • Mastering, the mix checks and applying need REAPER running with the song open. Restart REAPER once after installing.
  • Your AI app answers Mixroadie’s questions in a few rounds, so a full mix takes a minute or two.
  • Same licence as the panel: the health check is free on any song; plans need the free trial (one song) or a licence.
  • Requests the panel turns into custom moves, like “make the bass less boomy”, aren’t available here, only the named checks.
  • Setting it up runs one command, once. Claude Code or Codex can run it for you.
  • On a Mac, REAPER comes to the front while mastering and mix checks render.

Set it up in a minute.

Claude Code or Codex can do it for you: paste one sentence and approve. The guide has that sentence, plus the manual steps if you’d rather do it yourself.
