Can I use my Claude or ChatGPT subscription?

Yes, from Claude Desktop, Claude Code or OpenAI's Codex rather than from the Mixroadie panel. You then need no AI model in Mixroadie and no API key.

Updated

The Mixroadie panel in REAPER can’t sign in with a Claude or ChatGPT subscription: a cloud AI there needs your own API key. But Mixroadie can be used entirely from Claude Desktop, Claude Code or OpenAI’s Codex (in the ChatGPT desktop app), and those run on your plan.

Your AI app holds the conversation and makes the decisions. Mixroadie measures the song on your computer, and the moves you pick are applied in REAPER after a backup.

Setting it up

In Claude Code or Codex, start a new session and send:

Connect Mixroadie for me. Follow the instructions at https://mixroadie.com/connect.md

Then restart REAPER once. The full walkthrough, including Claude Desktop, is in How to use Mixroadie with Claude or ChatGPT.

What doesn’t work

  • Web chats (claude.ai, chatgpt.com, Gemini on the web) and the ChatGPT app’s normal chat can’t run Mixroadie.
  • From your AI app you get the named checks and tools, such as “mix this for me”, the health check and mastering. Free-form requests the panel turns into custom moves (“make the bass less boomy”) are panel-only.

Other AI apps that can run a local MCP server, such as Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot in VS Code or Cursor, work too, set up by hand.

Still stuck?

Write to us with your computer (Mac or Windows and its version), your REAPER version and what you see. A screenshot helps.
